![]() The superfluity of The Bucket Arc is clearly an argument about the futility of adding extra content in a re-release, but you still went and did it, and it was shit. It's satirical bent never rises above putting a dunce hat on itself and going "look at how dumb we're being". All the bucket stuff is absolutely unbearable humor that felt like being trapped in 2012-era reddit with people going on about narwhals and bacon. Teeth-grindingly ancient observations on collectibles and DLC that would make CTRL+ALT+DEL groan paired with the Bucket. What we have here is an acceptable repackaging of the original game (with some pluses being options to sidestep some of the edgier stuff in the original release, namely the unbearably cringeworthy suicide sequence, and some minuses being the stripping out of jokes in the subtitles and the loss of the language of jokes that Source familiarity provided) alongside some, on the whole, pretty dire new content. If the div was a strong option, but with enough skill and mastery, other support options became better, that’d be great! Sure, you’d get raiders who complain that you’re not playing perfectly or optimally, but if you’re casual, you might not want to play with hardcore perfectionists, I know I sure as hell don’t. ![]() A game should allow casual and disabled players to beat content, but should also reward players who go the extra mile to challenge themselves. And, of course, a style of play that doesn’t require much skill expression, but is still viable. There should still be skill expression in every department, whether that be tactics, preparedness, or aim. I mean, if you’re a support player, don’t you want more options too? Playing support shouldn’t lock you into a single playstyle. I’m not saying nerf it into the ground, I’m not saying make it useless, it should still be a viable option, but so should other support builds and weapons. Having one weapon be miles better than others to the point where entire builds become useless is too much. But, this is an online multiplayer game, so there has to be balance.
